@Sara-mp1bs

I feel like the alter egos would be clearer if they were introduced one at a time over a longer period of time with different albums. The audience would have more time getting familiar with them and the creative team could also properly figure out what they want to do with each alter ego

@lealarsen2017

if you didn´t know lisa you would assume she was a superficial person with a nasty personality and that is not good. the braggy lyrics is not the best thing to portrait yourself to someone who does not know you. especially not in the west

@iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiivanka

One alter ego is enough. She needs to hire a publicist and a marketing team. She is rich. Hire better people. Hire the best producers, songwriters and everyone out there. Hire like 100 songwriters and put them in a writing camp for you. Hire fashion designers and seamstresses to make the most gag worthy outfits. Hire a good vocal coach. Use that money.

@MachitiCha

If she wasn't in blackpink, she wouldn't be popular. The way they designed her character is why she was successful, it's showing that without good branding, she sucks. She used to have the colorful hairs with the tomboyish looks and raps, now she looks like an Instagram model with bad music. Jennie for example has more or less the same image as she did when she debuted, but Lisa is unrecognisable. All the fans who liked her old image left, now it's just people who think she's an Instagram model or an influencer as that is what she comes off as.
Check her genius interview, she cannot even explain the lyrics of her own song. It's clear without the guidance of a big company she has no idea what she's doing. There is a reason why pretty much most idols fail after their group disbands.

@davidk3872

The egos concept are so cringe for me

@ThayDiasChim

Jennie is in an experimental artist phase. I don’t like the live performances, but she sings and raps better, and her lyrics are better too. The album seems well thought-out, and that reflects in the music videos, you can tell the editor did a good job.

Rosé, on the other hand, is more like a storyteller with some influence from Avril Lavigne and Taylor Swift. She focuses on telling something that happened to her, and her videos are also all stories. She plays the “relatable girl” card.

Jisoo was smart, she focused on acting, and since she didn’t have enough material for a full album, she decided to keep her musical project small. Releasing a song about sex is something unexpected from her, and it’s cool because she showed a fun side.

But Lisa is kind of boring sometimes. Blackpink’s songs are already mostly about how amazing, rich, and beautiful they are, so Lisa constantly releasing songs about money, wealth, etc., is just plain boring. It’s okay to be more of a performer than an artist, and it’s okay if Lisa does it just because she finds it fun and not because she’s deeply connected to it. But she clearly wants to be taken seriously in the Western market. She’s trying to make her album seem deeper than it actually is, and people notice that. The result is that people see Lisa’s work as industrialized and overprocessed.

@isia.h

The alter ego is like the homework you do late at night, sleepy and tired, and it doesn't even know what you're doing 😭, I luv lisa I think she’s very VERY TALENTED but he needs more vision and to work harder on his albums.

@NeverCensored978

I think you're last sentence really hits on the issue with Lisa's solo career. She can perform any song really but lacks the artistry on her own to curate a cohesive body of work. She would really benefit from having a creative director on her team to take her ideas and enhance the execution.

@jootsuke

it's just so sad that she did not highlighting her main talent, dancing. she could've been even more successful if she didn't just picked random songs producer gave her and throws it in one album hoping any of them successful😢

@Maevenclaw

She didn’t need 5 alter egos, even if she wanted to explore different genres. None of it is personal to her, and she’s still doing the showing off thing like with Money. It was messy. Feels like they didn’t edit it, like they just had the ideas and went with it

@wandawonderer3991

It just all backfired in her teams face. The solo stans keeps coddling her and eats everything up that when valid criticisms about her music comes up they go after them like rabid dogs. If only she hired a veteran to handle her album it would have been much better than what it is today.

@purplecy

The only flaw i find in lisa's music and overall solo venture is SHE IS NOT RELATABLE at all compared to her three members. When your audience is teenager and early adults u try make songs that they can relate like Olivia's, Taylor Swift, Tate, Billie. Even Rosie n Jennie.
Singing about money,wealth is something majority people cant relate.
Second is her way of delivering music n her voice. She is presenting music in a messy way.
Like for Jennie the entire promotion season was DARK RED with hints of blue
For Jisso it was Purple
For Rosie it was pink and hints of orange
Lisa had so much going on. No colour theme no promotional strategy. it felt like LAST MINUTE.
Her IDENTITY is not clear she just goes for whatever the label gives her. Jennie's/Rosie's album revolved around love,sadness,boldness and just THEM.
lisa went with money,wealth,love,boldness,sadness all in one go which came out as messy.
AND LORD THE ALTER EGO CONCEPTS? idk who's idea were that🤡
I loved Rockstar n New women. But other songs are just not it.
Love her not her music

@tiena6630

If you listen to the 3 Blackpink members who released full albums talk about the creative process behind their album, its very clear that Lisa is the most emotionally detached from her music.

Rosé uses music to process her emotions and tell stories from her life. Jennie is expressing herself through art, from music to visuals, because throughout her career she's been unable to speak for herself until now. Lisa speaks about her album and music like a fun thing she wanted to try out. She likes the fame and the performance part of being an idol, but she isn't an artist like Jennie or a musician/storyteller like Rosie.

Creating music for fun and success is perfectly okay, but for a lot of us it just doesn't connect the same way that Jennie and Rosie do, because instead of feeling personal, it feels manufactured. Lisa's album gave me the impression of trying to go viral on TikTok, which is off-putting.

@AriesAries-x4l

Let’s be honest. The reason why she’s failing is because she can’t sing and her job title is that of a singer. Marketing can only take you so far if you don’t have the goods to sell. K-pop is extremely forgiving when it comes to talent but if she wants to make it as a singer in the west she should learn how to sing before booking high profile gigs like the Oscars. This also should not be a controversial take, expecting a singer to sing.

@takecarebilly_

another thing is that why she doesn’t add breakdance/interlude in her songs? (like actual interlude in the album, not just special coachella) at least she can sing less though

@박찬우-k5p5d

I think Lisa is serious about the alter egos, but I don't think she is serious about being serious about the alter egos. I think her choosing the concept of alter egos for the album was itself a performative act, saying something like "I don't want to be put in a box" and further "I don't want to build an 'artist' brand." That's the only possible explanation, I think, for the concept, and its just going over all of our heads. Its a terrible choice from a business perspective, but maybe she needed to make this statement for her peace of mind, no matter the cost. And if this decision wasn't made consciously, maybe she didn't realize herself that's what she really needed to express.

@YuzukaEvelyn

It felt like they just gave a random song to each alter ego😢

@gwenuzmki

"these songs are so similar" EXACTLY!! dream is the only one different for me

@yeminchanna4662

It's interesting that she did all that cause lisa arguably had the strongest brand when in blackpink ;

Her tomboyish style was consistent and signature , while rest of the te girls fell into spectrum of femininity that changed depending on what day it is , Lisa was the one with masculine flair.
She even had the hair theory in her favour with bangs being synonymous with her that even idols who had them before her were called out for copying her.

Others had to flesh themselves out but all lisa had to do was to carry the brand she had but she for reasons unknown rejected it

People say yg mistreated her but they really highlighted her best qualities and made her a star ;
There's a reason she rapped more than jennie or barely had any vocal lines.

@seouluna

her team could do this concept so well...and they did..this..
