I think you have to donate your first ancient seed to Gunther to be able to plant it, he well give you the recipe so that if you find more, you can make them into ancient seeds.

You should donate your first ancient seed since Gunther gives you a plantable one along with the recipe, and then you can just throw the ancient fruit you grow into a seed maker to kickstart your empire

Always donate your first ancient seed. You want to kickstart farming ancient fruit wine as soon as possible because it'll start carrying you about mid-year 3 and on if you want to casually optimize profit

To anyone who wants to know more about the terraria crossover the doll you have to throw in lava is a reference to the way you summon the wall of flesh, the bone serpent that comes out of the lava is an enemy in the game, the faraway stone is a reference to dungeon defenders which is a cross over in terraria and the meowmere is a post moon lord (final boss) sword that is a reference to the famous neon cat meme

you shouldnt keep the ancient seed or the ancient doll, donating the ancient seed artifact already gives you an ancient seed and the meowmere sword is WAY worse than the obsidian edge, which you get in floor 90.

When you donate the ancient seed, you get the recipe to turn them into the plantable ancient seeds, but you also get said plantable ancient seeds. And you can't plant the ancient seed, so it can't do anything unless donated, and donating it gives you the useful kind, so you very much should donate the first ancient seed

Dinosaur eggs are a really good source of income without processing them into Dinosaur Mayoniese once you get the Treasure Appraisal Guide. This book makes all artifacts sell x3 times more, making dinosaur eggs with regular quality sell for 1050g, only 70g less than the mayo with Artisan Goods (and 90g more than mayo without Artisan Goods), while every quality dino eggs from silver to iridium sells for a lot more than the mayo.

I only agree about the Dinosaur egg and Prismatic shard. Ancient seeds are not easy to find, so I also donate the first one so I will get the recipe and at least one seed. In my current game, I didn't find an ancient seed until spring of year 2. You need to donate the Dwarf Gadget as part of the group of items needed to unlock the Dwarf Translator. They show up a lot later and you can just hold on to your second one if you haven't had the quest yet. Meowmere isn't a very powerful sword. It's just a novelty item. I donate the doll and worry about getting another one later, as with the Dwarf Gadget.

Giving your first Ancient Seed to Gunther is how you get your first plantable seed & the recipe to make more, so I'd recommend not saving that one

Also: the ostrich egg. Like the dinosaur egg, you can hatch it (this time in your barn) and it will lay more. You get a free one you get from one of the secret notes, but it's very difficult to get a 2nd unless you hatch the first
