The chemistry of the cast really saves the half-baked questions Variety dumped on them.
Someone pointed out that Murph and Ally switched hairstyles and I can't get it out of my head.
My favourite nerd celebrities are becoming normal people's celebrities and I don't know how to feel about it (this is so fucking exciting)
Well it’s clear Variety had no idea what to do with this interview, but I’m glad to see the intrepid heroes
"THE Q-ANON SHAMAN WAS FRAMED" -Ally Beardsley, barely 1 minute into the Variety feature
Zac Oyama hosting and being the sole player on a Legends of the Hidden Temple like game show is something I didn’t know I needed in my life
I like that they all iterated and improved the bad questions.
These baddies deserve a higher quality interview from a company like Variety but the fact that they still made it so funny makes up for it in spades.
Glad we're all on the same page that this was dropped on the desk of someone who doesn't know d20, doesn't know dnd, or both
Between the generic questions, the AI voice, and the mismatched hand thingies, it's clear Variety was underprepared for this interview. But as always with TTRPG, the cast ends up making their own fun nonetheless. This shines a bright light on the reasons audiences turn to actual play, and on how the mainstream entertainment industry misses the point.
I’ve been saying I want Zac to host a travel show to small towns with other drop out cast members but it’s to places he’s never been and has done zero research on. Just kind of leading a tour group blind.
"most likely to put the party in danger" i am BAFFLED that no one picked Brian "Let Me Roll For The Group" Murphy there
praying that long hair murph is a sign they’re filming starstruck season 2
The fact that half of these questions are different flavors of "who is the most chaotic" isn't helping narrow things down. Siobhan is Lawful Chaotic. Emily is Chaotic Protagonist. Lou is Chaotic Entitled. Beardsley is Chaotic Chaos. Murph is Chaotic Heel. Zac is Chaotic Accident. Brennan is Chaotic Progressive.
"Is that true Murph?" "No." i love this man
their faces after the first question was them coming to terms with the fact that the entire interview will be about DnD
6:25 Brennan fully dissociating and PTSD staring into the middle distance while Siobhan explains the game breaking nature of a Beardsley Nat 20 speaks VOLUMES
Long hair Murph? Time to watch Starstruck for the 100th time.
to whoever wrote these questions: have you ever watched even a minute of dimension 20 lmao
