KCRA GS Report English Final

On February 22, 2024, Heart of Central California Girl Scout Troops 1089, 917, 793, and 1105 spoke to and asked questions of crew member and American Astronaut Jasmin Moghbeli KI5WSL as she flew over at 17,000 mph and 250 miles above the Earth's surface. Jasmin works on the International Space Station with other astronauts and took time out of her busy day to answer the Girl Scouts questions. All went well, and the Girl Scouts had about 10 minutes to speak to Jasmin via what's called a direct connection - radio to radio. River City Amateur Radio Communications Society members and friends facilitated the contact with HAM radio gear setup at Heart of Central California Girl Scout Headquarters. The project was sponsored by ARISS - Amateur Radio on the International Space Station - a volunteer educational organization funded by NASA, ESA, CSA and JAXA.
