Fru Rauer - Osprey Nestcamera: Half-Day Recording from 20:11 CEST, 23.6.2025

The famous osprey "Fru Rauer" is back after her winter stay in Africa. Now her life can once again be followed live on a screen near you.

2025 Season:
She arrived at her nest on April the 13th at 12pm. Unfortunately, we did not get to film her arrival at the nest as we did not have the technology in place then.

-April 24 - 1st egg
-April 27 - 2nd egg
-April 29 - 3rd egg

-May 31 - first hatching (37 full days of incubation) Nickname: Frøy
June 2 - second hatching (36 full days of incubation) Nickname: Runi

The third and final egg will not hatch. As of June 7, it is too late, says biologist and osprey expert Rune Aae.
Note:
The reason is uncertain, but it could consist of many factors: infertility, embryo development problems, environmental conditions, or physical damage to the eggs. Remaining egg will be collected when we ring mark in July 2025. It is very rare that we see Ospreys removing the eggs themselves.

Both chicks eat well everyday, the male osprey is a skilled hunter, and brings fish to the nest several times a day.
The chicks are almost equal in size and weight, but sibling rivalry can happen, and for many it looks bad. But as it look for now, in june 2025, it looks fine, and they both can for sure take a "beating" from their sibling without a problem.

She arrived at her nest on April the 8th.

September 13, 2024, Mrs. Rauer has started the journey south. At 7 o'clock on Friday morning, Mrs. Rauer began her journey south.

2023 Season:
She arrived at her nest on April the 13th.

From 21. mai too 1 june, 3 egg.

26th of june, one succesfull hatching.
Later it was proven the other two eggs are overdue and will not hatch, says expert Rune Aae. Both in 2021 and 2022, the Rauer pair had two chicks. The eggs that did not hatch will be collected by the experts for toxicological analysis of the shells and contents.

August 8th , 2023
Now there are two osprey chicks in the nest.Tonight, an orphaned osprey chick was placed in the nest of the Rauer family. It was found during a ringing operation in another nest, along with another dead chick. The mother is likely dead, and the chicks are too small to take care of themselves.Everything went smoothly and calmly, but the big question now is what will happen when Mr. and Mrs. Rauer return to the nest. The hope is that the family will adopt the orphaned chick.
It was successful.

September 14, 2023. Mrs. Rauer left. After five months in Norway, Mrs. Rauer flew south at around 7 o'clock on Tuesday.
