After Kirk finds out Spock's sacrifice for the crew and becomes deflated, the crew of the Enterprise hold a funeral for Spock and place his body in a torpedo and launch it onto the newly created planet made by the Genesis torpedo and soft lands on the surface. Kirk then goes on to read Spock's Birthday gift,
